Solutions? Easy
Step 1? Knowing what self medication means..
Self medication is simply the use of unprescribed drugs to treat untreated and undiagnosed ailments.
What also is drug abuse???
Drug A buse is the use of illegal drugs, or the use of drugs/ substance with the idea to enhance health but without professional advice.
So now you think you don't self medicate???? Think again! Because it has become a very common practice amongst youths to rush to a patent medicine store at the slightest change in the functioning of their body system without knowing the cause of the CHANGE. In our society of today, self medication is rampantly practiced, completely forgetting that the production of drugs is not accidental or coincident, rather, to meet a desired effect to cure a particular ailment and not to be misused, which is detrimental to human health.
For example It is also very common to jump into the conclusion that its just "malaria" and the treatment of malaria begins meanwhile it might just be something else.
I was on the streets few days ago to interview people on why they indulge in self medication. And I found out that it was a case of "I know it all" but my dear, you're not a medical practitioner! Some complained hospitals are quite expensive, but you know what? Health is wealth, if you risk it, the outcome might be UNAFFORDABLE.
Questions u should ask be for you take a medication.......
* What is wrong with me???
* is it just that???
*is this the right drugs???
*what if this is d wrong drug?? what will it do to me???
* am i taking the right quantity my body can consume???
* when will it expire???
NOW I CANT MOVE TO TELL YOU THE EFFECTS OF SELF MEDICATION/DRUG ABUSE.
*Deafness
*Blindness
*Mental disorder
*Inability to give birth, or deformity of a foetus during pregnancy which will affect child during growth.. this is the cause of many disabled people.
* Disorder of or internal organ cause by taking hard drugs/over dose.
* Death.
You still not convinced????
ok if you are not yet convinced, let me give u 8 REASONS why you should STOP SELF MEDICATION
1. You may not be aware of your illness, you only assume.
2. You may not get the right dose... its under probability.
3.Foresee an addiction.. you will defiantly get addicted to it.
4.You carry a chance of having stroke, mostly from pain killers
5 You may not know the drug interactions/reactions to d body
6.What if u are pregnant??? what if u loose the baby or it gets deformed???
7.What if u are diabetic??? and you knw you are prone to high blood pressure?? an d u get hypertension??
8.Vitamins are needed in small quantity, u just take them and you think they are not toxic when abused???

NOW its ideal you....
Know your drugs/medications, its purpose.
Know you sickness, whats wrong with you, ( Do a test, do not assume)
AND SEE A PROFESSIONAL PHYSICIAN/ DOCTOR before you take any medication, then you are sure and safe...

LETS STAND FOR A CHANGE......
